Everything you need to know about CAM — how it works, how licensing works, and how to get started.

Last software update: April 10, 2026

CAM (Constraint Analysis Model) is a software tool developed by López Arechiga e Hijos designed to help manufacturing and operations teams identify and manage production bottlenecks. It applies the Theory of Constraints to give you a clear view of where your process is being limited, so you can focus your improvement efforts where they will have the greatest impact. CAM is built for engineers, plant managers, and industrial consultants who want data-driven decisions without the complexity of large enterprise systems.

CAM runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit). It does not require an internet connection to operate once licensed. A minimum of 4 GB of RAM and 200 MB of free disk space is recommended. CAM is a desktop application — it installs directly on your computer and does not require any server or cloud infrastructure to function.

Licensing is done in a few simple steps:

  1. Download and install CAM on your computer.
  2. Open the app — it will generate a .camreq file unique to your machine.
  3. Submit that file along with your information at simplifycapacity.com/license-request.
  4. Our team reviews and approves your request, usually within 1 business day.
  5. You receive a .camlic license file by email, along with your official PDF certificate.
  6. Load the .camlic file into CAM and you're ready to go.

Yes, each license is tied to a specific computer. If you replace or upgrade your machine, you will need to request a new license for the new computer. To do so, simply follow the same process: install CAM on the new machine, generate a new .camreq file, and submit a new license request. Our team will assist you with the transfer — just mention in the request that you are migrating from a previous machine and include your original invoice ID.
